Tuesday Marks Deadline To Sign Up For Affordable Care Act

LOS ANGELES (CBSLA.com) — The deadline to sign-up or complete the sign-up process for federal health care under Covered California and Medi-Cal is 12 a.m. Tuesday.

March 31 was the original deadline, but officials extended it after users experienced problems with the Covered California website.

More than 1.2 million Californians have enrolled under the Affordable Care Act, or Obamacare, with more than 7.5 million signing up nationwide.

According to officials, 90 percent of those who receive insurance through Covered California qualify for some sort of subsidy.

Anyone who is not insured in 2014 will be fined with a tax penalty.
