TSA Screening Area Reopened At Ontario Airport After Investigation Of Chemical Odor

ONTARIO (CBSLA.com) — Hazmat crews were at the Ontario International Airport (ONT) Sunday investigating an unknown chemical odor in the bagging screening area.

According to Transportation Security Administration (TSA) officials, the baggage screening area was closed around 11:25 a.m. while the Los Angeles World Airports Fire Department Hazmat Unit and the ONT Airport Public Safety Division investigated.

"Out of an abundance of caution, three TSA officers were evaluated on-site by LAWAFD medics," said TSA Spokeswoman Lorie Dankers.

All three officers reported normal vital signs and were not transported to a medical facility.

Authorities cleared the scene around 12:40 p.m.

There was no impact to the airport terminal and were no report of flight delays, Dankers said.
