Truck Hits Test Train On Expo Line In Santa Monica; No Passengers On Board

SANTA MONICA (CBSLA.com) — A test train on the Westside's Expo Line was hit by a truck Thursday, leaving one person injured, authorities said.

The accident occurred shortly after noon near Colorado Avenue and Seventh Street, said Ramon Montenegro of the sheriff's Transit Services Bureau.

The MTA train's two front wheels were knocked off-track when the truck's driver made a left turn into the train, according to Montenegro.

The train did not derail, and there were no public passengers on board, Montenegro said.

Paramedics transported the truck driver with minor injuries. Train operators on board the Expo Line train were not hurt.

Officials began testing lights and signals on the western extension of the Expo Line in late November.
