3 family members shot and killed inside Lakewood home

3 family members killed in shooting at their Lakewood home

Three people are dead after a shooting in Lakewood on Thursday morning.

The Los Angeles County Sheriff's Department Lakewood Station posted on X, warning the public about police activity on the 5800 block of Lorelei Avenue. They are asking people to avoid the area.

The sheriff's department said deputies responded to a call of an assault with a deadly weapon around 7:53 a.m.

Investigators found a gun inside the home, as well as a 17-year-old girl, a man and a woman all dead inside the home. Detectives believe they were family members.

"To hear about something like this, it's so sad," neighbor Rochelle Corros said. "It's just such a tragedy."

Deputies detained a woman who came out of the home for questioning, but do not believe she is a suspect.

"She came out of the house extremely distraught," Lt. Daniel Vizcarra said.

The killings and ensuing investigation rattled neighbors.

"Shocking is an understatement," Dr. Kasey Phillips Brown said. "That just broke my heart."

The cause of the shooting is unknown. No suspect information is immediately available.

This is a developing story. Check back for updates.
