Trial Begins For Roommate Accused Of Murdering Army Vet

SANTA ANA (CBSLA.com) – The murder trial for an Orange County man accused of killing his roommate began Monday.

Kwang Joy, 54, faces a felony murder charge in the 2013 death of Iraqi war veteran and Cal State Fullerton student Maribel Ramos.

Officials believe Ramos, 36, and Joy got into an argument on May 2 after the victim told him he needed to move out of her home in Orange.

Ramos' body was found in Modjeska Canyon off Santiago Canyon Road on May 16, 2013.

During the two week search for the victim, Joy maintained his innocence and repeatedly talked about his love for Ramos, who he said was his best friend.
