Travelers Enjoy Quiet Christmas Eve At LAX

LOS ANGELES (CBSLA.com) — Travelers who arrived at LAX on Christmas Eve were delighted to find the airport unusually quiet, with short lines and on-time departures.

While LAX is expected to be the busiest airport in the U.S. during the holiday season, with about 3.5 million passengers traveling through between Dec. 18 and Jan. 3, Christmas Eve is a break from the action.

"Everybody leaves the day before, so today's really a relaxed way to travel," traveler Chantal Kelly said.

Chloe Mandel said traveling on Christmas Eve fit her schedule.

"The tickets were cheap and I don't celebrate Christmas," she said.

Some travelers took advantage of therapy dogs that have been at the airport this week.

And in perhaps the greatest Christmas gift of all: flights were running primarily on-time.

Christmas Day is also expected to be a slow travel day at the airport, before things pick up again before New Year's Eve.
