Transgender Man Sues Barber Shop He Claims Denied Him Service

LONG BEACH (CBSLA.com) — A transgender man is suing a Long Beach barber shop over allegations of discrimination.

Attorney Gloria Allred has now filed a civil rights lawsuit against Hawleywood's Barbershop on behalf of Rose Trevis.

Trevis says earlier this month the business refused to give him a haircut because they thought he was a woman.

"I was continually reminded that this particular business refuses to service women," said Trevis. "I felt humiliated, discriminated against, and frowned upon."

Allred says the barbershop doesn't allow female customers or even women inside its business and that is against the law.

CBS2 is working on obtaining a statement from the barber shop.
