Tow-Truck Driver Killed In Sun Valley Crash  

SUN VALLEY (CBSLA.com) A tow-truck driver was struck and killed by a motorist early Saturday morning in Sun Valley.

The motorist, driving a Chevrolet Silverado pickup truck northbound on Glenoaks Boulevard, hit the tow-truck driver and his truck at about 2:15 a.m. near Peoria Street. The tow-truck driver was conducting a pickup at the time of the accident, the LAPD's Valley Traffic Bureau said.

The driver of the pickup truck was not injured, police said. The tow-truck driver died on the way to the hospital.

Early reports said detectives wee investigating whether the motorist, who was detained and released, was intoxicated. Later it was revealed the driver wasn't intoxicated but perhaps suffered some type of medical emergency.

Witnesses to the crash are being asked to call the LAPD's Valley Traffic Bureau at (818) 644-8000.
