Tour Bus Ignites In Norwalk; No Injuries

NORWALK (AP) — Authorities say a tour bus caught fire after a driver pulled off a Southern California freeway to evacuate 40 passengers. No injuries are reported.

Los Angeles County Sheriff's Lt. Eric Smitson said Sunday that passengers smelled a suspicious odor or saw smoke, prompting the driver to exit Interstate 605 in Norwalk and pull into a doughnut shop parking lot. The engine caught fire as the passengers left the bus.

Los Angeles County Fire Department Supervisor Cheryl Sims says firefighters were at the scene for nearly two hours Saturday night.

Smitson said a police report doesn't list the name of the tour bus operator.
