Unplanned Flaring Event At Torrance Refining Company Caused By Maintenance Issue, Fire Officials Say

TORRANCE (CBSLA) — A maintenance issue resulted in an unplanned flaring event at the Torrance Refining Company Saturday evening, according to the Torrance Fire Dept.

Fire officials and Torrance police were on scene at 3700 W. 190th St. shortly after 6 p.m. Saturday.

The flaring was visible throughout the City of Torrance and lasted approximately 10 minutes, a spokesperson for Torrance Fire confirmed.

The flaring event was the result of a valve malfunctioning.

No off-site impact was reported.
