Former Torrance police officer arrested for possession of child sexual abuse material

A former Torrance Police officer is scheduled to appear in Los Angeles Superior Court on June 3 following his arrest for allegedly possessing child sex abuse material.

Los Angeles Police Department officers with the Internet Crimes Against Children Task Force were able to locate Evan Robert Dahl, 23, of Torrance, who had uploaded child sexual abuse material to a social media platform. 

"The city of Torrance and its police department are aware of the troubling allegations leading to Evan Dahl's arrest. Evan Dahl no longer works for the Torrance Police Department," said Torrance Police Department Sgt. Mark Ponegalek.

He was arrested on Friday after investigators served a search warrant on several potential locations where Dahl was suspected of operating, including his residence. 

Evidence was seized as a result, and he was arrested for possession of child sexual abuse material. 

They also learned that he was employed as an officer at the time of his arrest, though they would not detail exactly which agency Dahl worked with.
