Stolen Vehicle Investigation Leads To Deadly Police Shooting

TORRANCE (CBSLA) — Authorities are investigating a deadly shooting involving an officer in Torrance.

Torrance police responded to the scene, located in the 1700 block of Carson St., near Western, shortly after 8 p.m.

Police say they were flagged down by a man who said he saw his car, which had been stolen two days earlier, being driven in the area.

Officers found the car parked in a Ralph's parking lot and went to talk with the man inside. They say the man was armed with a rifle and that's when officers opened fire.

The suspect died at the scene. No officers were injured.
