Tornado hit Carpinteria Tuesday night, National Weather Service confirms

Residents witness tornado that hit Carpinteria on Tuesday

A day after severe weather caused damage to a mobile home park in Carpinteria, the National Weather Service confirmed Wednesday a tornado was the culprit. 

Damage assessment teams said the Ventura County community was hit with an EF Zero tornado around 8 p.m. Tuesday. Ventura and LA Counties were under a tornado warning at that time. 

The Sandpiper Mobile Home Park in the 3900 block of Via Real in Carpenteria suffered damage to multiple carports and awnings damaged by the wind around 6 p.m. Tuesday. In all, 26 residences were damaged and trees were damaged in the cemetery near the mobile home park. 

No injuries were reported.

Following this tornado declaration, NWS moved on to investigate Montebello's wind event Wednesday. That was also classified as a tornado by the NWS,
