'Tom's Tribute' Rallies To Win $75K Thunder Road Stakes At Santa Anita

ARCADIA (AP) — Tom's Tribute rallied from next-to-last to win the $75,000 Thunder Road Stakes by 2¼ lengths at Santa Anita on Sunday.

Ridden by Hall of Famer Mike Smith, Tom's Tribute ran one mile on the turf in 1:31.78, equaling the course record set by two-time Horse of the Year Wise Dan. The 4-year-old colt paid $8, $3.60 and $3.20.

Joelito returned $4.80 and $4, while Bright Thought was another nose back in third and paid $4.60 to show. Peace and Justice, the 6-5 favorite, finished fifth in the field of eight older horses.

The victory, worth $47,400, increased Tom's Tribute's career earnings to $226,880, with four wins in 10 starts.
