Toddler Tumbles Out Window In Brea And Survives Nearly 5-Story Fall

ORANGE  (CBSLA.com) —  A baby fell out a window at a Brea apartment Wednesday and survived a fall of at least five stories.

The child lives on the third floor of the apartment building, and the parking structure is about two stories high.

Officials told KCAL9's Stacey Butler the child was lucky to have survived without suffering major injuries.

The child was taken to Children's Hospital of Orange County and is expected to make a full recovery.

Butler spoke to the parents of the 3-year-old; they declined to talk on camera but also called their son's survival is amazing.

The boy was playing on a couch, perhaps with a cellphone, when family members said the boy tumbled out the window.

The unidentified boy went through a screen before hitting a tree that broke his fall.

He was bleeding from the head and has some internal injuries. But he was reportedly alert and crying for his mother when an ambulance came.

The fact he was alert and crying is "a very good sign," doctors told Butler.

She also played an understandably panicked family calling 911 for help.

"Who survives that? A 5-story fall and a 3-year-old," says Brianna Samayoa. "It's amazing. God was watching him. God was watching him. That is a miracle. A very good miracle."

"I mean, a 3-year-old kid," said Marliz Samayoa, "that's crazy. He was definitely being watched by someone or something.
