Toddler Found Wandering Streets Of Compton, Deputies Say

COMPTON (CBSLA.com) — A 3-year-old girl was found wandering the streets of Compton on Saturday, deputies said.

The child was found by a Good Samaritan in the area of Willowbrook Avenue and Alondra Boulevard about 6 p.m., according to the Los Angeles County Sheriff's Department.

Deputies watched over the child at the Compton Sheriff's station as they searched for her parents, who subsequently made contact with them.

As of 12:40 p.m., deputies report that the parents and the grandmother of the child were being interviewed by detectives, as well as by the Department of Children and Family Services.

"Preliminary information indicates miscommunication between the family members led to the little girl not being supervised," the LASD said in a statement. "The incident is still under investigation."

CBS2's Jeff Nguyen reported the parents and grandmother face more questioning Monday.

The Sheriff's Department said the child appeared to be well-fed and clean.

Nguyen reported that a family friend saw the girl's picture on TV and called authorities. CBS2/KCAL9 is now blurring the little girl's image now that she has been reunited with her kin.
