'Tip Jar Bandit' Admits To Grand Theft From Jamba Juice Store Where She Worked

LOS ANGELES (CBSLA.com) — The so-called "Tip Jar Bandit" pleaded no contest to felony grand theft for stealing money from the cash register of a Jamba Juice store where she worked.

Jessica Mary Shub, 20, of Beverly Hills, entered her plea Wednesday to a count of grand theft of personal property. She was sentenced Thursday to a year in a live-in residential drug rehabilitation facility, three years of formal probation and ordered to pay $1,500 in restitution.

Prosecutors say Shub stole money from the Jamba Juice store where she worked over two months in 2014.

Shub was arrested on Feb. 12 after surveillance video was publicized, showing her stealing from tip jars from several Beverly Hills businesses. She was charged with a misdemeanor for those thefts on Feb. 17.

With Shub's no contest plea in the felony case, the misdemeanor charges were dismissed, prosecutors said.
