Tim Tebow Workout Draws Dozens Of Major League Baseball Scouts To USC

LOS ANGELES (CBSLA.com) — Former NFL quarterback Tim Tebow showed off his arm for scouts Tuesday.

But it wasn't a football tryout. No, Tebow is hoping to make a Major League Baseball roster, and was showing his prowess on the diamond to dozens of scouts at USC's Dedeaux Field.

Reporters on the scene said Tebow was fairly impressive -- he hit a ball over the fence in batting practice and ran a 60-yard dash in some time between 6.7 and 6.8 seconds, Sports Illustrated reported. About 42 MLB scouts from most major league teams -- including the Dodgers -- attended the workout.

Tebow's baseball skills go back to his high school days, before he gave up the sport to focus on football. He hit .494 with four homers and 30 RBIs as a junior at Nease High School in Ponte Vedra, Florida, CBS Philadelphia reported.

Tebow would later win the Heisman Trophy playing quarterback at the University of Florida, before stints in the NFL with the New York Jets and Denver Broncos. Since playing his last NFL game in 2012, Tebow has worked as a football commentator for ESPN.
