Tiger Woods Undergoes Back Surgery

LOS ANGELES (CBSLA.com) — Tiger Woods announced on his Twitter that he underwent successful back surgery on Friday.

The 14-time major champion had his second microdescectomy surgery on his back on Friday. The first operation was performed on March 31st, 2014.

"This is certainly disappointing, but I'm a fighter," Woods said. "I've been told I can make a full recovery, and I have no doubt that I will."

Woods is set to begin intense rehab and soft tissue treatment within the week, but is expected to miss up several upcoming tournaments, like the Frys.com Open and the Bridgestone America's Golf Cup.

"I appreciate the fans' concern and support," Woods added. "This is unfortunate, but these things happen. I've been injured before and played again. It won't be any different this time."
