Thousands Without Power On Westside; South Bay Mostly Restored

LOS ANGELES (CBSLA.com) — About 6,400 customers on the Westside and in West Los Angeles were without power Friday, and as many as 3,200 customers in the South Bay were in the dark as well in outages blamed on overloaded circuits amid high demand related to high temperatures. About 9,900 customers were in the dark at the peak of the Westside outage.

Southern California Edison said power had been restored by 8:45 p.m. to all but about 200 customers in the South Bay.

The Los Angeles Department of Water and Power officials said they were working to restore power to the Westside but had no estimate for when electrical service could be restored.
