Thousands Hit By Power Outages Due To Strong Wind Gusts In SoCal

LOS ANGELES (CBSLA.com) — Strong wind gusts left thousands of Southland residents without power Wednesday, officials said.

According to Southern California Edison, 986 customers in Los Angeles County are without power due to high winds. Another 3,323 customers are affected in Orange County and 10,969 customers lost electricity in Riverside County.

The Department of Water and Power reports that 1,000 of its customers have lost power due to winds. Customers in the San Fernando Valley were the most heavily affected, according to the utility.

Wind gusts of 60 mph were reported across the region, fueling several wildfires, including a growing blaze in the foothills of the San Bernardino Mountains in Rancho Cucamonga.
