Thousand Oaks-Based Amgen Lays Off Dozens Of Staffers

THOUSAND OAKS (CBSLA.com) — Thousand Oaks-based Amgen Inc. placed dozens of staffers on paid leave this week, a company representative confirms to CBS2.

Roughly 70 positions, primarily in the Information Systems department, will be eliminated.

However, affected employees will receive paychecks until August.

"The majority of the positions were eliminated due to recently outsourced work. Each of the individuals notified was offered comprehensive severance benefits that provide cash, health insurance and career transition services," Amgen's Kristen Davis said.

No other details were immediately available.
