Theft Suspect Caught On Tape Stealing From Lockers At LA High School

LOS ANGELES (CBSLA.com) — Police were asking for the public's help Thursday in identifying a grand theft suspect who stole from students at a private LA high school.

The suspect was caught on camera, roaming the halls of Cathedral High School, on Tuesday evening while the varsity football team was at practice, the Los Angeles Police Department said.

"Video surveillance captured the suspect entered the men's locker room and removed a laptop, iPhones, iPods and U.S. currency belonging to the school and the students," officials said.

"He did seem to know where the locker rooms were at. The facility does get used by other teams and when we've played other teams, teams use the locker rooms as well," Principal Martin Farfan said.

Farfan said the stolen items were not secured in lockers and that the locks to the locker room doors had been broken for the past few weeks.

The suspect is described as a black man, 25 to 30 years old with a fauxhawk-style haircut and designs on the side.

"He had a black beard and was last seen wearing a grey cut off shirt, green shorts and black and white shoes," police said.

The suspect's vehicle is said to be an older model white SUV.
