Teen Held In False Threats Against Corona Schools

CORONA (AP) — A teenage student has been arrested in the investigation of false bomb threats against two schools in Riverside County.

The Corona Police Department said in a statement Thursday that the 17-year-old student at Lee V. Pollard High School was arrested after two calls threatened that campus on Tuesday and one call Wednesday to Corona High School claimed there were bombs there.

In both cases searches did not turn up any explosive devices.

As a minor, the arrested student was not identified.

Police Sgt. Paul Mercado says such investigations draw significant amounts of public safety resources away from legitimate purposes.
