Team From Harvard-Westlake School Wins LADWP Annual Science Bowl Regionals

LOS ANGELES (CBSLA.com)  —  Harvard-Westlake School Team B won the Los Angeles Department of Water and Power's annual Science Bowl regionals Saturday.

The competition was held in downtown Los Angeles.

This is Harvard-Westlake's first regional title, according to the school.

As the regional champions, team members each receive a $1,000 Hitachi Scholarship and an all-expense paid trip to Washington, D.C. to compete nationally at the U.S. Department of Energy National Science Bowl (April 24-28.)

Harvard-Westlake School Team B will represent Los Angeles. Nine other teams from California will compete among students representing 40 states.

The Harvard-Westlake team has big shoes to fill. Previous LADWP regional winners have captured four national titles and placed among the top five teams 11 times.

North Hollywood High School Team A, last year's LA winner and a holder of 15 regional titles and one national championship, placed second. The third place winner was Harvard-Westlake School Team A, while Palisades Charter High School placed fourth.
