Teacher, 37, Pleads Guilty To Committing Lewd Acts On Female High School Students

LOS ANGELES (CBSLA.com)   —   A 37-year-old teacher pleased guilty Wednesday to sexually abusing female high school students in 2011 and 2014, authorities said.

The Los Angeles County District Attorney's Office announced David Park pleaded guilty to two counts; copulation of a person under 16 and lewd act upon a child.

Park is scheduled to be sentenced Dec. 3 at the Los Angeles County Superior Court in Pomona. He is expected to be sentenced to three years in state prison. He will also have to register as a lifetime sex offender.

Deputy D.A. Kelsey McKeever-Unger said at the time of the crime, Park was a chemistry teacher at Los Altos High School in Hacienda Heights.

Authorities were alerted by a school official that Park -- a Chino Hills resident -- may have been having a sexual relationship with a 15-year-old girl toward the latter part of 2014, the D.A. said. At the time of his arrest, officials said the sexual acts took place inside the classroom, after class and at Park's home.

Park was charged on Feb. 25.

As authorities continued to investigate the case, a former student came forward and revealed Park had sexually abused her in 2011.

On April 16, the felony complaint was amended to include additional charges for the second victim.
