Suspected Tagger Arrested For Allegedly Vandalizing Alhambra Veterans Memorial

ALHAMBRA (CBSLA.com) — Police have arrested a man on suspicion of defacing the Alhambra Park's Veterans' Memorial in time for Veterans Day.

Abel Samano, 18, of Monterey Park, who uses the name "AMER," was arrested Monday on suspicion of felony vandalism, according to Alhambra police's Facebook page.

Detectives were able to track down Samano thanks to an anonymous tip, police said.

The vandalism was discovered last Thursday on a curved wall inscribed with the Thomas Jefferson quote: "The price of freedom is eternal vigilance." The names of local service members who were killed in action are inscribed on bricks in front of the wall.

Samano is being held on $20,000 bail and is scheduled to appear in court Wednesday.
