Barricade Suspect Surrenders After Reportedly Shooting From Sylmar Apartment Building

SYLMAR (CBSLA) — A gunman suspected of firing at police from a window of a Sylmar apartment building surrendered to authorities Monday afternoon.

The incident took place at an apartment complex on the 13200 block of Bromont Avenue and Sayre Street about 2:40 p.m. and called in a SWAT team, police said.

The suspect later surrendered around 4 p.m., according to police.

At one point, a police officer could be seen escorting an elderly resident from the area.

The Sylmar High School gym was opened as an evacuation center.

No injuries were immediately reported.
