SWAT Team Raids Target Suspected Commercial Burglary Ring

SEAL BEACH (CBSLA.com) — Law enforcement personnel raided locations in five Southland counties Wednesday as part of a multi-agency investigation into dozens of commercial burglaries allegedly committed by members of a Long Beach gang, authorities said.

KNX 1070's Ron Kilgore reports six SWAT teams from the Seal Beach Police Department and other agencies took part in "Operation Crossover."

Ten search warrants were served beginning at 5 a.m. as part of the investigation, which is focused on nearly 100 burglaries allegedly committed in Los Angeles, Orange, Riverside, San Bernardino and Ventura counties, Seal Beach police Sgt. Philip Gonshak said.

The suspects, some of whom are believed to have ties to the "Insane Crip Gang" in Long Beach, targeted restaurant safes and grocery stores that sell high-end liquor, Gonshak said.

"We're still looking for a couple more that are outstanding," he said.

The total number of arrests and other details of the operation were expected to be released at a 2 p.m. news conference at the Seal Beach police station.
