The Lexus barreled through a fence in the garage of Lantern Bay Villas and nearly entered a home, KCAL9's Michele Gile reports.

The vehicle landed just a few feet from where Michael Henshaw, a maintenance supervisor, was working.

Henshaw helped the 66-year-old driver climb from the front seat to the passenger seat and out of the door.

Getting the SUV out of the structure was a different story.

"They had to secure the car with a bunch of wood, large straps and they used two tow trucks to successfully pick it up and back it out. It took three hours," Orange County Fire Authority Capt. Steve Concialdi said.
