Suspicious Package That Prompted Building Evacuation Deemed Harmless In Century City

CENTURY CITY (CBSLA.com)  —   A suspicious package prompted an evacuation order of a Century City office building Wednesday afternoon before getting the all-clear after nearly seven hours.

The package -- delivered by FedEx -- was taken to the 9th floor in a building in the 2000 block of Avenue of the Stars.

The bomb squad was called to the scene just after 1:30 p.m. when people said the oddly-shaped package also had a strange odor.

Police and the bomb squad gave the all-clear about 8:10 p.m., authorities said.

The building -- headquarters for Deutsche Bank -- was ordered evacuated. The building also houses the talent agency CAA.

Stu Mundel, reporting in Sky 9, said Century Boulevard was closed between Constellation and Olympic Boulevards.

Officials did not say what the package contained.
