Suspected DUI Driver Rear-Ends Sheriff's Patrol Car

SAN JACINTO (CBSLA.com) — A suspected drunk driver plowed into the back of a sheriff's patrol car Friday night, with a Riverside County deputy inside.

Both the deputy and the driver were transported to a hospital, and both were released a short time later. The deputy was said to be recovering at home.

The crash happened about 11 p.m. at the intersection of State Street and Seventh Street in San Jacinto.

Sheriff's investigators said Joel Golden, 30, of Hemet, failed to stop before hitting the deputy's car. He was driving a white Chevrolet Cobalt.

Golden was arrested and was being held at the Larry D. Smith Correctional Facility in Banning.
