Suspected Drunk Injured After He Flees Police And Gets Struck By Vehicle

TEMECULA (CBSLA.com) — A man suspected of being intoxicated was injured Friday when he ran into traffic while fleeing police.

The unidentified man -- only identified as a 33-year-old Murrieta resident -- was struck by a vehicle just after 6 p.m. near Winchester and Ynez Roads.

Officials were responding to a call about a seemingly drunk man loitering around that location.

When the man saw a deputy arrive, he allegedly bolted across Winchester Road where he was hit, according to Riverside County Sheriff's Sgt. Dean Spivacke.

The man was taken to a hospital where he was treated. The extent of his injuries was not disclosed.

The driver escaped injury and was released from the scene, said Spivacke.
