Suspect Steals CHP Cruiser Before Going On Joy Ride In Downtown Los Angeles

LOS ANGELES (CBSLA.com)   —  A suspect in handcuffs managed to steal and then commandeer a CHP cruiser Friday night, authorities said.

Stu Mundel, reporting in Sky9, said the vehicle was taken at Florence and Broadway.

The suspect left the vehicle at 73rd and Town and apparently fled.

As of 10 p.m., the suspect was still at large.

It was unclear why the suspect was put in handcuffs or if authorities had already identified the man.

A deputy and civilian were both injured in the incident but officials said neither injury was serious.
