Suspect Smelling Of 'Cigarettes And Wet Dog' Sought In Victorville Attacks
VICTORVILLE (CBSLA.com) — Police sought the public's help Wednesday in identifying a man suspected of attacking three people near a local college campus in Victorville.
Detectives with the San Bernardino County Sheriff's Victorville Station released a computer-generated sketch of the suspect in three separate attacks starting on Jan. 20, two of which occurred at Victor Valley College.
The third attack occurred along 2704 Amargosa Road near an Ashley Furniture store, according to Sheriff's Det. Rodney Gardner.
Deputies say the suspect - described as a Hispanic male between 30 to 40 years of age and about 5'6" to 5'11" in height - pulled a knife on a male victim, sexually assaulted a female victim, and dragged a second female victim down the street by her leg.
Victims described the suspect as having a short beard, a strong, raspy voice, and a distinct smell of "cigarettes and wet dog," according to Gardner.
He may be driving a white late-model VW wagon or other 4-door vehicle, Gardner said.
Anyone with information about the attacks is asked to contact Det. Gardner at (760)241-2911 or leave an anonymous tip on the We-Tip Hotline website.
