Suspect Fatally Shot After Allegedly Firing At LAPD Officers In Winnetka

WINNETKA (CBSLA)  --   A suspect who was allegedly firing a gun at police in Winnetka was shot and killed Saturday evening.

He was shot and taken away in an ambulance. It was not revealed how many times he was shot.

The incident took place in the 6900 block of Oakdale, at Vanowen.

KCAL9's Cristy Fajardo spoke to neighbors who said they heard a series of shots around 7:30 p.m. that appeared to be an exchange of gunfire.

Neighbors also told her that many of them were outside at the time and had to duck for cover.

At this point, they said a swarm of officers arrived on scene.

Many said they ran and stayed low, away from windows and some even barricaded themselves behind furniture.

Officers are being tight-lipped. It was unclear what brought officers to the location in the first place.
