Suspect Killed In San Bernardino Officer-Involved Shooting

FONTANA (CBSLA.com)  —  Authorities said that an attempted murder suspect was fatally shot by Fontana police early Saturday in San Bernardino.

The incident occurred about 3:30 am. in the 800 block of N. Davidson, officials said.

Four officers were reportedly conducting a follow-up investigation to a Friday night shooting in Fontana when they said they were approached on foot by two suspects who were armed or appeared to be armed.

Police said James Moala Kofu, 22,  pointed a sawed-off rifle at officers. Police fired at the suspects fearing for their safety.

Kofu, a Fontana resident, was struck and died at the scene. The rifle was recovered.

Another suspect, identified as Antonio Valentino Ramirez, fled on foot.

Ramirez, uninjured, was taken into custody. He has been identified as the suspect in the Fontana shooting.

He was arrested on attempt murder charges stemming from the Fontana and San Bernardino incidents.

Ramirez is being held at the West Valley Detention Center.
