Murder Suspect Killed In Deputy-Involved Shooting In South LA

LOS ANGELES (CBSLA.com) — A murder suspect was killed early Wednesday morning in a deputy-involved shooting in South Los Angeles.

Deputies responded to an assault with a deadly weapon call around 1:15 a.m. at 106th Street and Vermont Avenue, according to LASD Capt. Rod Kusch.

"When they arrived there they found a female Hispanic that had been shot," he said.

The suspect then fled north in an alley nearby.

"Deputies encountered him at 102nd and Vermont, and he shot at our deputies with a shotgun, and a deputy-involved shooting ensued," Kusch said.

Both the suspect and victim, who were in their 20s or 30s, were pronounced dead at the scene. Their relationship was unclear.

No deputies were injured in the shooting.

The incident was under investigation.
