Suspect Killed In Deputy-Involved Shooting Near Perris

RIVERSIDE COUNTY (CBSLA.com) — Officials announced Sunday that a male burglary suspect was killed in a deputy-involved shooting Saturday night near Perris.

According to the Riverside County Sheriff's Department, deputies were sent around 10:07 p.m. to the 25000 block of Highway 74 for report of a burglary in progress.

A preliminary investigation revealed the suspect allegedly kicked in the door of the residence where an elderly couple lives.

Deputies said they contacted the suspect when they arrived on scene, and an officer involved shooting occurred.

Officials transported the suspect to a hospital, where he later died.

His identity is being withheld pending family notification.

No other injuries were reported.
