Suspect In Deadly Hit-And-Run In Carson Turns Himself In

CARSON (CBSLA.com) — A suspected hit-and-run driver turned himself in early Wednesday morning.

The incident began around 9:30 p.m. Tuesday outside the SouthBay Pavilion Mall in the 20700 block of Avalon Boulevard in Carson, the Los Angeles Sheriff's Department said.

According to witnesses, during a car club meeting in the parking lot, two men got into an argument, which escalated into a fight that involved several of their friends.

During the fight, one of the men — a 20-year-old —got into his vehicle, fled the scene and struck the other man.

The 28-year-old victim was transported to a local hospital where he was pronounced dead.

A short time later the suspect turned himself in to the Carson Sheriff's Station, according to deputies. He was being interviewed along with several other witnesses.

It was unclear if the hit-and-run was intentional or an accident.
