Suspect In Custody After Hours-Long Standoff In Cahuenga Pass

NORTH HOLLYWOOD (CBSLA.com) — A suspect is in custody after exchanging gunfire with police during an hours-long standoff in the Cahuenga Pass Monday.

Officers responded to a call of a man with a gun in the 3900 block of Fredonia Drive around 7:30 a.m.

Los Angeles police Capt. Stephen Carmona tells City News Service the suspect "produced a gun and basically committed an assault with a deadly weapon" against an "associate" the suspect was with the evening prior.

Police say the suspect was drawn out of the residence with tear gas but emerged firing rounds at SWAT officers.

No one was injured in the exchange of gunfire, according to Capt. Carmona.

The suspect surrendered around 2 p.m.

Further information was not immediately available.
