Suspect Charged In Fatal Shooting Of Marina Del Rey Security Guard

MARINA DEL REY (CBSLA.com) — Authorities say an Inglewood resident has been charged with allegedly shooting a security guard to death at an upscale Marina del Rey apartment complex.

Byron Keith Street, 47, was charged Tuesday in the Dec. 30 murder of Patrick Odoikyene, according to the Los Angeles County Sheriff's Department.

Deputies were called shortly before 3 a.m. to the 4200 block of Via Marina Court, where witnesses say they had heard two men arguing before gunshots rang out.

Odoikyene was found fatally shot in the outdoor parking lot of Shores apartment complex, where he was on-duty as an unarmed security guard.

Deputies arrested Street the day after the murder on an unrelated felony fraud charge.

Detectives were able to charge Street Tuesday with murder, burglary, felony vandalism and being a felon in possession of a firearm.

Street will be arraigned at the LAX Court Thursday. He's being held on $1 million bail.
