Man Arrested In Fatal Eastvale Hit-And-Run Was Already In Custody

EASTVALE (CBSLA.com) — A man who was already in custody was arrested for the hit-and-run death of a 21-year-old Eastvale bicyclist, officials said Friday.

Witness statements of the April 26 accident led police to 26-year-old Casey Coltrain, who was already in custody on a burglary charge. He was technically arrested on hit-and-run and second-degree murder charges Thursday night.

Troy Davids was struck while riding his bicycle home from work around 12:10 a.m. at the intersection of Limonite and Hamner avenues.

The driver, believed to have been Coltrain, fled before deputies arrived, sheriff's officials said.

"I don't want him to hurt anybody else. I don't want anybody else to go through what we've gone through," Debbie, Davids' mother, said.

Davids was transported to Kaiser Hospital of Ontario, where he was later pronounced dead.

According to police, Coltrain has long list of offenses on his criminal record, including a DUI.
