Study: Bigger The Wedding, Better The Marriage

LOS ANGELES (CBSLA.com)  —  A new study suggests the bigger the wedding the better the relationship.

Okay, not if you count Kim Kardshian and Kris Humphries.

But a new study -- The National Marriage Project -- found couples who have formal weddings with 150 guests or more, are more likely to have a high-quality marriage.

Researchers believe that couples who are struggling may not want to celebrate their marriage in a big way.

Could it also be that rich people get to spend more time apart on lavish vacations?  Or people who received many gifts from all those friends don't want to split everything up? Who knows?

But the study did offer some do's and don'ts for a successful union.

• One suggestion -- Don't have too many sexual partners before you meet "the one."

• Take your marriage milestones seriously.

• The study also suggests not moving in together until you've made the commitment to marry. The survey said only 31 percent of couples who lived together ended up in a high-quality marriage.
