Study: 4 Of America's Top 10 Pot-Friendly Cities Are In Southern California

LOS ANGELES (CBSLA.com) — Four of the nation's top 10 pot-friendly cities are located in the Southland, according to a new study.

Online real estate brokerage firm Movato released the study earlier this week in the wake of Colorado's controversial Amendment 64 going into effect on Jan. 1.

The company used seven different criteria to determine America's "highest" cities: marijuana dispensaries per capita; number of residents with medical marijuana cards; head shops per capita; marijuana-related events & festivals per capita; whether medical marijuana use is legal in the state; whether marijuana use is legal in the state and whether marijuana use is decriminalized in the state (no fine/jail for first-time possession).

Denver came in first, with nearby Aurora claiming the fifth spot, but San Bernardino, Santa Ana, Irvine and Los Angeles also made the list:

1. Denver, CO
2. Colorado Springs, CO
3. Seattle, WA
4. San Bernardino, CA
5. Aurora, CO
6. Santa Ana, CA
7. Irvine, CA
8. San Francisco, CA
9. Sacramento, CA
10. Los Angeles, CA
