Stolen Vehicle Suspects Lead Police On Foot Chase In LA River

DOWNTOWN LOS ANGELES (CBSLA.com) — Four suspects reportedly led California Highway Patrol officers on a chase Tuesday night that eventually moved into the LA River.

Officers spotted four men around 5:20 p.m. in a reportedly stolen vehicle at the Denny's restaurant on Vignes Street and Cesar Chavez Avenue, LAPD Officer Rosario Herrera said.

Authorities followed the vehicle onto the northbound 101 Freeway near Union Station. As they tried to initiate a traffic stop the suspects bolted from the car.

One suspect immediately was taken into custody.

Officers chased the other two suspects as they ran into the LA River near the railroad yards.

Sundown made the search a bit more difficult but officer managed to apprehend the two remaining suspects shortly after 8 p.m. underneath the First Street bridge.

The fourth suspect was still on the loose.

No further information was made available.
