Man Shot, Killed Inside Stater Bros. Market In San Bernardino

SAN BERNARDINO (CBSLA) - A man was shot and killed inside a Stater Bros. Market in San Bernardino Monday evening, police said.

San Bernardino police responded to a call around 4 p.m. of a shooting at 444 East Baseline Street.

Authorities said a male victim in his twenties was pronounced dead at the scene. He was later identified as 23-year-old Reginald Williams.

According to a witness, three men were standing in line when they began arguing and one of them pulled out a gun.

Multiple suspects were reportedly seen fleeing the area in a vehicle.

"It was a busy afternoon and there were several witnesses, patrons, employees, that were at the store at the time it happened," said San Bernardino Police Department Sgt. John Echevarria.

Some witnesses at the store attempted to stop the bleeding and save the man's life.

According to a witness, it all started with an argument in the checkout line.

"There was a guy dressed in red, he was kind of getting in an argument and had some words with two other gentlemen," the witness said.

He said that when the man in red went to leave the store, one of the other men pulled out a gun.

"Then all of a sudden, the guy in red who was out of sight at the time, came running back and tackled him," the witness said.

He said that the three men struggled on the ground, and soon after, heard six gunshots.

Police are hoping some of the witnesses can help them track down the shooter.

According to police, the gunman ran out of the door and got into a car with several other people.

Police searched the area for surveillance video.
