Starbucks Serving Almond Milk Soon

LOS ANGELES (CBSLA.com) — For an extra 60 cents, Starbucks will soon be happy to add almond milk to your coffee.

Starbucks has offered soy and coconut milk as non-dairy alternatives, and announced the addition of almond milk Tuesday.

"We created our own almondmilk recipe to complement our hot, iced and Frappuccino® blended beverages," said Starbucks research manager Yoke Wong in a press release.  "It was designed so that when steamed, it creates a rich foam for hot beverages and is delicious and creamy when served in cold beverages."

According to the company, customer requests, barista suggestions and crowdsourcing led to the almond milk addition.

Starbucks claims more than half of U.S. adults consume non-dairy milk, and almond milk is the most popular alternative.
