Starbucks Celebrates Milestone With Limited-Edition Birthday Cake Frappuccino

LOS ANGELES (CBSLA.com) — Starbucks is commemorating the 20th anniversary of the Frappuccino, one of its most popular and iconic drinks, by offering a special blended concoction for a limited time.

The popular coffee chain says the Birthday Cake Frappuccino made with vanilla bean and hazelnut and topped with raspberry-infused whipped cream will be available in stores for five days.

The company says in 1993 baristas in California began experimenting to develop an iced beverage but it wasn't until 1995 when Starbucks began offering the Frappuccino in stores nationwide and Canada.

Starbucks says the company today serves the blended beverage in 66 countries in a variety of drink combinations and credits the Frappuccino with drawing in non-coffee drinkers.

The Birthday Cake Frappuccino will only be available through March 30.
