'Star Trek' Immortalized With Unveiling Of Forever Stamps

LOS ANGELES (CBSLA.com) — Nearly 50 years after the original air date of "Star Trek," the U.S. Postal Service unveiled Forever stamps dedicated to the iconic show.

The USPS dedicated the stamps during a convention in New York City, which is expected to draw thousands of fans.

The stamps cost 47-cents, or $9.40 for a sheet of 20, and were issued Friday.

The stamps feature four show-inspired illustrations, including one which features the U.S.S Enterprise spacecraft.

The sci-fi show first debuted Sept. 8, 1966.
